Owner's Favorites

  • An amazing forest out the back door awaits. Private entry to several miles of trails through National forest begin under a rusty iron chandelier hanging from the trees.
  • Discover old growth trees, little water falls, springs, and secret swimming holes.
  • Hike to the top of Sugarloaf Butte on uncharted moss-laden woodlands. Chart your own path and take steps where no one has stepped before. Over a million acres behind the Stuga await exploration. And remember: You can't get lost. Find you way home by going downhill and following the creek.
  • Other favorite hikes in the area include Burnt Lake and Ramona Falls.
  • In the fall, you're likely to find loads of Chanterelles along an old abandoned Forest service road that extends beyond the Stuga and into the Bull Run Watershed.
  • Also in the fall, you might even see the first salmon runs to return to Clear Creek after Marmot damn was removed several years ago. It's now an unobstructed path for salmon to travel from the Stuga all the way to the Pacific ocean, over 200 miles away.
